Qiwi to limit some money transfers, to eliminate violations

MOSCOW, Dec 10 (PRIME) -- Russian payment service operator Qiwi will limit transfers to foreign trading companies for up to six months, including operations through the Contact money transfer system, following checks by the central bank, a representative of Qiwi told PRIME on Thursday.

Following a scheduled inspection of Qiwi Bank, the central bank imposed restrictions on payments in favor of foreign trade companies and transfers to prepaid corporate cards starting from Monday.

“In accordance with the conclusion on the results of the planned audit of the central bank, since December 7, Qiwi has been restricting electronic payments in favor of a number of foreign merchants (trading companies) and some reverse payments for a period of up to six months. However, we are currently in dialogue with the central bank on elimination of uncovered violations, as well as negotiating a partial cancellation and lowering the level of restrictions imposed,” the representative said.

Other transactions, including transfers between individuals, will work normally, he added.
